Currently the Rules Analyst for Fox Soccer, Dr. Joe Machnik served as Referee in Chief and Director of Operations for the Major Indoor Soccer League and as Vice President of Game Operations and Director of the Office of Officiating Services for Major League Soccer. 

 

Joe served as assistant coach for the USA Five-A-Side team in 1989 (Bronze Medal), as assistant through the USMNT’s qualification for the 1990 World Cup, and during tournament play in Italia‘90. 

 

He coached men’s and women’s soccer at New Haven University, serving also as Director of Athletics and Associate Professor in the Department of Sport Management. 

 

He is the only person to play in an NCAA tournament, coach in two NCAA finals, and officiate an NCAA championship match. ​​
