Jim Trecker's service to American sport and soccer began with the New York Skyliners and New York Jets in the late 1960s and includes executive suite media and public relations for American professional and international soccer. 

 

He served as Director of Public Relations for the New York Cosmos and then for the North American Soccer League (1978-1980).

 

For World Cup USA 1994, Jim managed communications and press operations from the bid process through the completion of the World Cup. With FIFA Media Chief Guido Tognoni, Jim developed the idea of a “mixed zone” where players and journalists interact after matches.

He served as US Soccer's Deputy Secretary General/Communications (1996-1998), Communications Manager for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics soccer tournament, and MLS Senior Advisor for Communications (1994-1996; 2000-2002).

Jim most recently served as archivist and historian for the development and opening of the National Soccer Hall of Fame.
